Jamie Zapp from Netafim describes a study tour to South Africa where he and a group of growers from Bundaberg visited high productivity farms to understand how low-flow drip irrigation is helping to achieve yields of 7 t/ha NIS. The low-flow systems used are characterised by flow rates of 0.7 L/hour emitters and two driplines per row. Growers also use constant fertigation through the driplines with higher NPK application rates than is common in Australia.
